Hi, I have a Nest Hello, and recently it started going offline and flashing green light after someone pressed the doorbell. I performed a factory reset and connected it to USB and verified that it works. I checked the voltage on the doorbell wires and got ~20V AC. Then I reconnected it and the camera worked, but the indoor doorbell did not ring when the button is pressed. Now it seems to go offline with a flashing green light any time I push the doorbell button. A reset while it was connected to the wires did not have any effect, but if I unscrew the wires and then re-attach them, it comes back online with normal lights and the camera works. However, as soon as a push the doorbell button, it does not ring the indoor chime, and it goes back offline with the flashing green light.

Please help!

From reading some of the other posts (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Nest-Hello-Doorbell-cuts-out-when-button-is-pressed/m-p/35782#M6726), it sounds like the internal battery on my Nest Hello has died

@barneystinson2

One possible cause is that the internal battery in your Google Nest Hello Doorbell is failing. Yes, it has an internal battery, as we too discovered. The internal battery serves to provide power to the doorbell during the instant when power is diverted to ring the indoor doorbell chime when the doorbell button is pressed. The chief symptom is that the Nest Hello Doorbell goes offline for a minute whenever the doorbell button is pressed.

One workaround to prevent the doorbell from going offline whenever the doorbell button is pressed is to turn off the "Indoor chime" option and instead rely on "Visitor announcements" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451?) on your Nest Hubs. That's what we've done for over a year now.

The internal battery has now failed on all three of our Nest Hello Doorbells. And it has happened to hundreds of other Google Nest customers. See this thread with over 1,000 replies:

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Nest-Hello-Doorbell-cuts-out-when-button-is-pressed/m-p/337612/

Google Nest says they "cannot" replace such doorbells if they're past the 1-year warranty.

Some customers have endeavored to pry open their sealed doorbell to replace the internal battery with a 3rd party replacement:

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nest+Hello+Battery+Replacement/131729

Thank you! Turning off the indoor chime seems to have resolved the issue with the camera going offline.
