Cannot Migrate Nest to Google Home

I have a Google Account created past the same Nest account. Both are linked and have been for 2 plus years. I attempt to migrate the Nest camera account to Google Home and get an error that the Nest account is associated to another account, but it is attached to the account I am trying to migrate too; #. Not sure how to migrate with this error. I did try and disconnecting the two accounts, but this connection did not delete.

I'm not sure what you mean by "a Google Account created past the same Nest account" or by "both are linked".

You cannot migrate a Nest Account to a Google Account that is already being used for Google Nest devices.

If you are logging into the Google Nest app using the "Sign in with Nest" option, your Nest Account has NOT been migrated. If you are logging into the Google Nest app with the "Sign in with Google" option, you have already migrated your Nest Account to a Google Account. If you started using the Nest app on or after Aug, 19, 2019, you are already using a Google Account.

My goal is to transfer Nest cameras to Google Home. I am starting to unravel this a bit more. I have two Nest accounts with the same email address as above. One has cameras. The other looks like possibly the Nest thermostat side although there is no thermostats associated. I cannot remove this account. I have deleted the Nest connection in the Google Security area and the re-attempted to migrate the camera app/login. I get the same message: "The Google account is already linked to another Nest Account." But I have removed any Nest connections from the Google account and then reconnected. All the same account email address for both Nest and Google. As per your above statement, I can login to the thermostat side looking app with login using a Google login, but the Cameras are a login to Nest and a different password. One maybe older than the other.

I would encourage you to read the details of the Frequently Asked Questions link I provided about migration issues.

Read, for example, the "Error message: Google Account is already linked with another Nest account" subtopic.

Once you've linked a Google Account to a Nest Account by using it to access or install Google Nest devices, I don't think there is anything you can do to "unlink" them.

The Help topic, however, does provide two alternatives.

In your particular case, if you have Google Nest devices installed on two different accounts, you may have to remove all of the devices from the Google Nest app, do a factory reset (for those devices where you CAN do a factory reset), and then reinstall them using your other account. Google Nest has no process for merging Google Nest devices from two different accounts.

I'm not sure of the exact details of your case. I do not understand, for example, how you can possibly have "two Nest accounts with the same email address", though it is possible to have two different Google Nest "homes/structures" accessed by the same account in the Google Nest app and the Google Home app.

I would encourage you to read the entire Help topic, and determine how it applies to your situation.

Edmond, the above instructions did not help. There truly is 2 nest accounts from the same email address. I have decided to just remove the older nest cameras and replace them with newer Google Nest Cameras. They are much better in the end. Thanks for the responses. You can archive this post.
