exterior camera wiring issue

We have a Nest exterior camera which is now not working. We are in The Bahamas and it appears that the protection around the wiring has failed so the wires are exposed. This camera is less than 5 years old and it seems to me that if it is an exterior camera the protection of the wiring should be of a sufficient quality to withstand all weather conditions. Will I have to buy a new camera as the wiring is hardwired to the camera?
