Doorbell placement advice

I want to replace the existing doorbell with a wired Nest doorbell. The current doorbell isn't on the door, but on a wall to the left of the door. Will the camera work if it's mounted to the left of the door?

Yes, but you will get a side view of the doorway area.

I don't know. It LOOKS more suitable for a Ring doorbell.

Thanks for hanging in there and helping answer my questions. The Doorbell Mount site has a long list of doorbell cameras to choose from so I think it would fit, but they're made on a 3D printer so maybe not the most elegant look.
Amazon has a black plastic plate to cover the hole left from the original doorbell as well as an additional angle wedge product. Those might do the trick a bit more subtly.
