Nest wired Gen 2 Doorbell camera constantly buzzing/ringing (UK)

Hi.

Trying to fit a Gen 2 Doorbell/camera, when fitting the chime connector (puck) and switching on power to the built in chime transformer it chimes once (ding of the ding dong ;o) then hums until power is cut to the transformer. This happens regardless of whether the Doorbell/camera is connected or not to the chime button terminals. A digital volt meter continuity test shows that the two wires going to the transformer terminals are connected all the time i.e. a short. This would explain the ringer behavior when connected and powered up.

Connecting a standard doorbell (contact closure push button) to the same terminals without a puck makes the chime work as designed.

Haven't got to setting up the doorbell itself yet as need to get this puck connection issue sorted first.

Question: Is the puck faulty and if so, how do I get a replacement? Thanks

It would seem that either your chime connector is wired incorrectly or is defective.

You can check against Google Nest's wiring diagrams on this post: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/12153643

If your chime connector is wired correctly, you could try contacting Support:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

Many thanks MplsCustomer. The chime has a built in Transformer so the wiring diagrams are not overly helpful. I will contact Support as you outline as I think the chime connector is faulty.

If your chime has a built-in transformer, you may not have the chime connector wired correctly, or perhaps you cannot wire it correctly, or you may need to open up your chime in order to wire it correctly.

I beleive the chime is connected as required - in fact I tried two chime from different manufacturers, both with built in transformers and the same problem occurs. I believe the chime connector (puck) is faulty, and managed to get Next/Google support to send me a replacment
