nest doorbell move to Google Home from Nest Aware

I was able to transfer all my Nest/Google cameras from Nest Aware app to the Google Home app. But for the wired Nest doorbell it will not allow the app to store history. I can see live video - just no event history. Is there no option to allow that or a setting to allow it?

Since it is currently only possible to "transfer" 1st gen Google Nest Outdoor Cameras and Indoor Cameras (but NOT Google Nest Hello Doorbells) from the Google Nest app to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Nest-Cam-Indoor-1st-gen-expanded-support-rolling-out-in-the-Public-Preview/ba-p/451056), and since there is no Nest Aware APP (Nest Aware is a subscription), I am guessing that you actually migrated your Nest Account to a Google Account. (We did that in 2020.) If that is the case, then you cannot currently view any video history for 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells in the Google Home app; you still have to use the Google Nest app or the home.nest.com website for that. That's what we still do.

Thank you - after looking further it appears I can see event history in the Google Home App from my Iphone but not from my computer (web). Who in the world can understand why that is???

Well, now I'm confused about which doorbell you actually have. You said you "transferred" your cameras to the Google Home app, but if you have the 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell (wired), it only gets installed in the Google Home app. And for 2nd gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells (and 1st gen cameras and doorbells), you can only view history in the Google Home app. The home.google.com website, which has been in "Public Preview" status since it went live in Oct. 2022 (here's the Oct. 2022 announcement: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Check-out-your-cameras-on-the-web-with-Google-Home/ba-p/242119), does not yet provide access to any video history.

i'm now confused as well. It is our 2nd Nest doorbell but it must still be a gen 1 as we have been using it for couple years in Nest Aware app. All 7 of my other cameras were able to transfer (Public Preview) to Home as this camera did also. But all the others allow event history in the Google Home app - but the doorbell only allows us to see event history from my phone - not the web version of Home is what I am learning. All the others allow event history in the web app. Guessing that is an issue that may be corrected at some point. Thanks for your time.

There is no Nest Aware app. There is a Nest app, and there are Nest Aware subscriptions.

If your cameras and doorbells were previously working in the Google Nest app, then they are all 1st gen cameras and doorbells.

As I said earlier, it is currently only possible to "transfer" 1st gen Google Nest Outdoor Cameras and Indoor Cameras (but NOT Google Nest Hello Doorbells--or Google Nest IQ Cameras) from the Google Nest app to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app.

So, your 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbell could NOT have been "transferred" to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app. (See the link I provided earlier.) That's why you can see the livestream in the Google Home app but no video history; you'll still have to use the Google Nest app for history for your 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbell. You can livestream ALL 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells in the Google Home app without "transferring" them. We can livestream all of our 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells in the regular version of the Google Home app (and on the home.google.com website), and we haven't "transferred" any of them because we're not using the "Public Preview" version; we still use the Google Nest app and the home.nest.com website to view history.

We are not using the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app because it is beta, because we can't transfer our three 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbells, and because it still lacks many Nest app functions: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/13038234#zippy=%2Cnest-app-only-features.

I need to correct part of my earlier post. It IS possible to view video history on the home.google.com website for 2nd gen cameras and doorbells and for 1st gen cameras and doorbells that have been "transferred" from the Google Nest app to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app. (I had forgotten this because I don't use the home.google.com website very often, since we have only one 2nd gen camera that is on all the time and the home.nest.com website works better.)

In your case, since 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbells still cannot be "transferred" to the Google Home app, you can see its livestream on the home.google.com website, but not its video history.

Thank you - that tracks with what I am seeing. I can see "history" on that doorbell camera in the HOME app. Not as convient as the Nest app nor the HOME app for all my other cameras. Last question - is there a doorbell camera that works better on the HOME app - does the Gen 2 Nest Doorbell work? Man I will miss the ease and convenience of the NEST app!

We're still using all three of our Google Nest Hello Doorbells in the Google Nest app, and don't want to transfer them to the Google Home app even when that option becomes available and lose functionality. And the 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell's camera has a taller and narrower aspect ratio that some customers say they don't like.

I thought the Nest App was going away? The new cameras appear not to work on the Nest App only on HOME. I have found some used ones on Ebay but not sure they will continue to work. I'm really confused on the sunsetting of the Nest app. Guess I need to get my tech savvy sons to explain to me. Thanks for your help.

Yes, the new 2nd gen cameras (we have 2) do NOT appear in the Google Nest app, so we've been using 2 apps for over 2/-1/2 years.

The Google Nest app is still supported. I have no idea when Google Nest might sunset it and there is no public roadmap for when it might. Our Google Nest Hello Doorbells still cannot be transferred to the Google Home app, and there are still numerous Nest app functions that are not available in the Google Home app.
