It's not required if you are comfortable doing it, and are familiar with your electrical and doorbell systems. I did mine years ago and it's been perfect ! Just follow the on screen instructions !

If you are able to replace a conventional doorbell, you should be able to install a Google Nest doorbell. You can find an install video on this Help topic:
