i've been having the same problem setting up my dad's Chromecast. his modem is a TP-Link TD-W8901N, and i can't find AP isolation settings for the main network. i'm going to try using a guest network next, but i don't get it: i set up my dad's Chromecast last year, and i managed, it worked. his LAN got reset a couple weeks ago and even tho it's the same modem, i can't find this setting anymore. i'll be camping here in case someone can help.

Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear that you are having an issue connecting your Chromecast to the network. Let's sort this out.

A few questions — are there any changes in your WiFi router? What mobile phone are you using for setup? How far is the Chromecast from the WiFi router?

AP isolation may be called differently depending on your router manufacturer. If you cannot find this setting in your WiFi router or you are not comfortable with configuring your WiFi router, you may refer to your router documentation or WiFi manufacturer. Also, rebooting your Chromecast, mobile phone and WiFi router might also help.

My chromecast used to work fine as it is. Now not. Have tried resetting chromecast and wifi router. No changes in wifi router. Using same phone I originally used, a Samsung 9. Chromecast cast is about 1 metre away. Where it has always been when it was working.

Thanks for getting back to us. Could you please tell me what's the LED light status in your Chromecast and what type of Chromecast do you have? Do you have a dual band router? You may try to set up the Chromecast using a mobile hotspot to isolate the issue. Also, if you haven't tried to contact your router manufacturer, you may do so.

Gen 2 I think. The round one.

Not sure about dual band router. It's just A router to fibre.

Not sure how to setup a chromecast using Mobile hotspot. I have a wifi.

Hi there,

To setup a Chromecast using a mobile hotspot, you will need to have two devices. One to behave as the router (one with Hotspot enabled) and the other as the setup device. This is because most devices won’t allow both Wi-Fi and mobile hotspot to work at the same time, so a second mobile device is needed to complete the steps to setup Chromecast using the Google Home app.

I have two phones. I used one to be the hot spot and the other to connect to it to set up chromecast using home. This did not work. When I set up In home it asked for wifi and no other option to set up using hot spot.
