During shows I am watching, there are random gaps, usually lasting only 2-3 seconds, in the image on the TV. Sometimes, these gaps are accompanied by a loud static pop.

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the late response. Let's check on this further.

A few questions — what type of Chromecast do you have? When did the issue start? Is this happening when casting via a Chromecast-enabled app or Chrome browser?

Try these steps:

Try unplugging, then re-plugging the Chromecast into the HDMI port, making sure the connector is plugged all the way in.
Try plugging the Chromecast into other HDMI ports on your TV.
Try using the Chromecast with another TV/HDMI display, if possible.
Reboot the Chromecast
Factory reset the Chromecast.
