Chromecast with Google Tv turns off wifi by itself

Hi guys! So I bought a chromecast with google tv yesterday and after an hour or so the wifi turned off by itself, when I went to the configuration tab it showed that the wifi was turned off, it has happen 2 times in less than 15 hours of use it’s pretty annoying.

any help would be much appreciated in order to fix this issue.

The only solution has been to turn on the wifi manually for the configuration tab.

Following. I'm having the same issue. The wifi is turned off when I turn on the TV.

Hey mate i am having the same issue. Disappointing for a new product. Happens about every 20 minutes while watching and will always be off when inactive

Hi dude I enabled the developers tab and then disabled the wifi optimization and it works fairly good now

thanks for the response. i have activated developer mode but can’t see wifi optimisation as an option

Go to Settings > System > Energy > Saver and set it to Never.

ok tried this with no luck. it doesn’t disconnect when i hotspot my phone. only keeps disconnecting every minute on home wifi

I wouldn’t put this issue as solved, the problem started again, had to buy a dock in order to just plug it on an Ethernet cable

One of your answers was selected as a solution, which automatically tags the thread as "Solved". Just out of curiosity, when the Wi-Fi would toggle on and off, were you connected to a 2.4GHz band or a 5GHz band? I've seen some reports in the past of Wi-Fi disabling itself on a 5GHz band, and it was resolved by changing the 5GHz Wi-Fi channel to a lower one, around 36-48. Also, some other users reported that by disabling the Self-Organizing Network (SON) setting on their router, that stopped the issue as well.

Is this is similar to Asus Smart connect(one ssid) then it doesn't matter. Tried three different devices, in three home with three different routers. CCwGTV still toggles wifi off, regardless if it's idle, or 100% active streaming. It isn't a router issue, it's a device/firmware issue. That needs to be understood an accepted moving forward.

None of these solutions work. I have three CCwGTV & four ONN 4k devices. Those do not toggle wifi off on their own. I have 6 months+ experience with them in the same household. Google needs to address this.

Google absolutely needs to address this. It is a device issue. Wifi turns off within seconds of turning it on.

I went ahead and talked to a higher tier of support about this issue, and what they suggest you try for now is to reboot your Chromecast with Google TV and your router together. After that, monitor the device to see if the same issues occur over the next couple of days. If the issue persists, it may be an issue that our engineering team will have to look into, and in that case, I would highly encourage you to submit feedback on this.

We have all done this already. Your engineering needs to look into it. It's a device issue.
