Goggle remote can't find device

I've installed the remote to control the Chromecast, but the search function to add device can't find the Chromecast. Any suggestions on how to fix? The physical remote is having navigation issues and need this as a replacement.

Thanks for reaching out. To clarify, are you trying to set up your Chromecast with Google TV and Voice Remote? Are you getting a message in the Google Home app that it can't find the Chromecast during setup? When you say there is a navigation issue in the remote, does that mean the buttons are not working?
