Obtaining expected "Device Settings" information

Hi,

Ultimately, I am trying to get my Chromecast (model #: NC2-6A5 = version 2?) and the Udemy app to properly cast. To get there, I am referring to Google Chromecast help, such as the pages:

Chromecast firmware versions & release notes - Chromecast Help (google.com)

Set up and manage guest mode - Chromecast Help (google.com)

Now, I AM able to cast from Udemy to CC but there is reason for me to want to try and cast via the Guest Mode.

The problem is that those pages refer to functionality in the Google Home app that I don't see.

Specifically, when I look in Google Home at the CC device settings (say, by tapping settings) I don't see "Recognition & Sharing". Nor do I see any reference to "Guest Mode". All I see in the device settings are the three dots and, within that, I see only:

Ambient Mode Settings

Help

Feedback.

It would also be nice of there was some way to see what f/w version is currently on the CC.

Can anyone suggest why I am not seeing what Google tells me I ought to be seeing when I look in the device settings?

Krikey.

I knew that my CC wasn't placed in a "room" in Google Home when I checked the device settings previously.

So, I just placed it into a room and, magically, those missing settings show up in the device settings.

I'm sure that difference makes sense to those who designed the s/w.

Thanks for the reply.

No specific additional information needed so, if I had more to say, I would just whine about how Google could have spent a little more of its market value to actually make their Home app and Chromecast more robust. So, I won't comment! 😉
