Chromecast remote dead!

Chromecast remote dead. Not one button works. Replaced batteries with fresh ones, no help! Reset Chromecast to factory defaults but it did not pair with Chromecast. Please help? Rolando.

Try these steps:

Remove the batteries from the remote.
Using your phone or other remote to navigate, go to Settings > Remotes & Accessories.
Select your remote and choose to Forget it.
Choose Pair remote accessory to start a new pairing.
Hold the home button on the remote down and re-insert batteries while holding the button down.
The remote should be detected on the right side of the screen. Use your alternate remote to select it to pair it.

In most cases, your remote will pair automatically after you insert the batteries. If it doesn’t, follow the steps on the TV screen, or press and hold the Back and Home buttons on the remote for 3 seconds.

Thanks for this information! You solved my problem. I was about to go buy a new remote.

Does this need to be done every time I change batteries?

As far as I know no, you shouldn't need to do this every time you change the batteries.
