Chromecast with Google TV won't control casted videos

I'm trying to cast to my TV (from chrome - desktop and mobile) and then use my Chromecast with Google TV remote to control the video (pause, fast forward, rewind) and nothing works. I have to use the "original casting device" to do these actions. I swear this was working for me recently but hasn't all week (I have 2 Chromecast with Google TV devices and it's not working on either). Any help? Did I miss something? Is this a known issue/feature drop?

Hi srrboarder,

Thanks for reaching out. Instead of casting from a desktop and mobile phone, could you please try to watch from the apps on your Chromecast with Google TV, and use the D-pad on your Voice Remote to fast forward, rewind, and pause the video? Please check if it will work.

Also, try to reboot your Voice Remote and Chromecast and check for software updates on your Voice Remote. Here's how: Go to Settings > Remotes and Accessories > Remote update > Continue. The remote may briefly disconnect during the software update.
