Use of Generation 1 Chromecasts with 2005 Non-Smart TVs

I have a Panasonic TH-L32S10A TV from 2005. I appreciate that the latest Chromecast requires special protocols on the HDMI port, but can I use Gen 1 Chromecast on this older TV please ?
