topic Audio stuttering in Streaming

Hi, just boughth a Chromecast gen 3 for my Panasonic TV, which has built-in smart capabilities, but it's a little old and doesn´t support apps like Disney+, Spotify or Amazon Prime Video.

We installed it (after many tries and fails with my wifi network) and after playing a random movie from Netflix for testing it, we realized that the audio constantly stutters. The video is great, but the audio doesn't stop stuttering, every 0.5-1 second (the sound it makes is similar to a chicken clucking). We tried other video apps and all of them play great video, but stuttered audio (Disney+ and Amazon).

After trying and trying we managed to discover a workaround. If we play Spotify first, pause it, and after that cast from the video app, it works. But if, for example, a series episode finishes and the next one starts, the stuttering begins again.

This has been a very frustrating issue that happens in both of my wifi networks (2.4 and 5Ghz). The router is approx 5m from the TV, and I don't really believe it is a distance issue but a software one, as it works after doing the Spotify thing.

Have you heard about this before? What would be a permanent solution for it?

Thanks

Hi schorr8,

Thanks for reaching out and for doing some steps beforehand — these are of great help! To cover all the bases, please try the suggested steps below and let me know how it goes:

Make sure the Chromecast is connected to the power outlet and the TV is on the right input.

Connect a different HDMI device to the HDMI port. If the issue persists, it's likely not a Chromecast-specific problem.

Plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV.

Reboot your Chromecast.

Unplug your TV and plug it back in after 1 minute.

Plug in the Chromecast into a different TV screen if one is available.

Factory reset your Chromecast.

Thanks,

Hi @JenniferV , those were the first things I made but they didn't result.

After many tries, we decided to ask for a refund and buy a Roku Premiere instead. When we plugged in, the same happened, so, after looking a few minutes in the Roku configuration trees I found out that changing the Audio mode from "Dolby digital plus" to just "Stereo", solved the issue for all the apps.

Sadly, the chromecast doesn't offer that option as the menus and configuration options are very limited. It would be a good nice to have in the configuration of the device in the future.

I hope this helps if anybody runs in the same problem.
