Hi, I am living in shared accommodation and I am using chromecast for my media but because we are sharing one network anyone can see what I am watching or listening on google home app through my devices, is there a way to stop that? Thanks

No, I'm afraid. Any device connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast can see what's casting and cast to it by default. It's not designed to be used in this scenario unfortunately.

However, to prevent others on your Wi-Fi network to control your casting, you can turn off cast media control notifications on your Chromecast.

Open the Google Home app

Tap your device > Settings cog > Recognition & sharing.
Turn Let others control your cast media off.

Another thing you might consider is getting a Travel Router.

That will make a new PRIVATE network off of the main network (make sure you are not using a Network Extender). Then, you can put all your devices on that new network and nobody on the old network will be able to see or control them.
