Chromecast setup on google wifi mesh network

I recently moved in to a new apartment where the landlord has setup a Google Nest WiFi mesh network. And I'm having difficulties setting up my 3rd Gen Chromecast.

The landlord set up a Google Nest with my own VLAN, and I did a factory reset of my Chromecast before I tried to add it again in the Google Home app. Every step of the setup seemingly goes well, but the last step where the device tries to connect to the wifi through the app takes forever. And every time I try an error appears saying something like "Chromecast is connected but not registered". It also mentions something about access control, but I don't remember the exact wording.

Any suggestions on what I might try to solve this?

Sorry I forgot to add that in the opening post.

I get all the way to the part where I see Connecting to Wi-Fi in the Home app, there it stays a while before I get the message "connecting to the same wi-fi network". It suggest turning off access point isolation, not quite sure if that's correct translation though.

It's in Norwegian btw.

That is the correct translation (turning off access point isolation) and from your description of the Wi-Fi network you're connecting to this would certainly seem to be the most likely culprit, so I'd suggest checking with your landlord.

Access point isolation is a feature of wireless routers that enables you to create a separate virtual network for each wireless client that is connected to the wireless network. That's good for security, but means that the devices you connect to that network cannot communicate with each other (i.e., your phone cannot communicate with Chromecast.)
