topic Chromecast Self Diagnosis Time in Streaming

I bought my chromecast and it arrived in the mail. I set it up and was working perfectly fine. I had the screen saver on for about 40 mins and then it cut to black and make a loud buzzing/shooting sound on my TV and the remote could not turn it off or lower the volume. I unplugged the Chromecast and it has been blinking orange which indicates its self diagnosing. But it been doing it for 2 hours now and still not signal on the TV or anything. Is there anyway to fix this or is this chromecast just bricked?

Update, Chromecast has been in self diagnosis mode overnight and still has the blinking orange light. This is definitely not normal.

Hi J-Money,

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Chromecast. Let's sort this out.

Quick questions: is the Chromecast plugged directly into the TV? If not, where is it plugged into? Do you have an audio-video receiver connected to your TV?

Give these steps a try:

Reboot your TV.
a. Shut down the TV completely (power off and disconnect the power cord from the power outlet).
b. Disconnect the Chromecast from the HDMI port. If the Chromecast is plugged into the power outlet, unplug it.
c. Power on the TV and reconnect the power source to the Chromecast device. Don't attach the Chromecast into the TV HDMI port.
d. Wait 30 seconds and plug the Chromecast device into the HDMI port on the TV.
e. Change the TV input to the same HDMI input as the Chromecast.

Try to plug the Chromecast to a different HDMI port on the TV.

Test the Chromecast on another TV screen, if one is available.

Factory reset your Chromecast. Here's how.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jennifer
