Hey there LucasKun,

I apologize about the late response, thank you for your patience! I think that's a fantastic idea as well, since casting images to the TV is fairly popular. I would highly encourage you to submit this feedback via Google Home so Google can look into this idea further!

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!

Best regards,
Google Photos in 4K, using full source resolution

Using Chromecast, displaying Google Photos has a resolution limitation of 720x1280, according to Google official developers documentation.

This amounts to less then a single megapixel, while TVs today generally output 2160x3840, which is over 8 megapixels. The current state is close an order of magnitude loss of fidelity. I've seen several year old feedback on this, and I'm bewildered that the situation is static.

So there is a huge opportunity to make Google Photos immensely more enjoyable by supporting the actual resolution of the source material, combined with the supported 4k resolution of TV sets.

Google Photos with webinterface on desktop is fantastic, as it uses the full resolution of the source material and of a monitor. Pictures immediately look sharp, and when zooming in, you can see the software buffering lightning fast to show the full information available. A true pleasure. In other words, the Photos team has the backend implementation ready to dynamically handle variations in both input and output resolution to offer the optimal experience.

The next piece of the puzzle is that 4K TVs are almost without exception the largest and highest resolution screen in a house. To support the best screen in the house is a no-brainer use-case. In the link above, users have already expressed the impact this has on sales.

My feedback: please reap these lowest of low hanging fruits!

Now imagine also supporting HDR photo formats on Google Pixel and Chromecast, and the viewing experience this gives on modern HDR screens! Google Photos has an immense opportunity.

Hi Jeran, thanks for the positive response! 🙂 I didn't thank anyone would respond anymore, and I'm really happy you did.
I gave the feedback via the android Home app, as text (just copied my text above).

Do you think I will get any reply? I'm curious what will actually happen with the feedback.

Of course! We're still catching up on some threads, so the replies have been a bit slow. When it comes to the feedback, usually Google won't directly respond to you, but all the feedback submitted is viewed and taken seriously. It really is the best way to let Google know what features or fixes you would like to see. Of course, you're always welcome to post on the forums as well!
