Chromecast problem? Random skips

I have a problem where (not 100% sure if culprit) chromecast may randomly skip my streams, but not consistently.

Streaming from tablet, Website A, show A: No problems

Streaming from tablet, Website A, show B & C: random skips throughout the show (skips forward, then backward, caption also gets out of sync)

Streaming from phone (Android/pixel), Netflix, show A: same type of random skips

Thought it might be device or wifi problems, but when the same problem came about on a different device and app, I was wondering if it might be the chromecast. I *think* I've done a hard reset with the chromecast but didn't seem to help.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to the Chromecast Community Forum! I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing random skips while watching your shows, I can imagine that's not too fun. I'd be happy to help you out, let me just ask a few questions to better understands what's happening:

When did this issue start happening?
Is your Google Home app up-to-date?
Does this problem occur if you changed the HDMI port that the Chromecast is plugged into?
Does this problem occur if you changed the TV that the Chromecast is plugged into?
