Freeview Play on Google TV (UK)

Hello - I have just bought the new Chromecast with Google TV HD (UK based) and trying to download the Freeview Play app, but am unable to find it, despite numerous articles saying this app is available for Google TV.

This is the app I am referring to... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.freeview.android&hl=en_GB&gl=US

The only reason I bought the Chromecast was because the Freeview Play is not available on my Android TV.

Can someone please advise.

Hi mrraphael,

The service provider develops their own apps and it's them that decide what devices it can be installed on and not Google. Please try contacting Freeview and request they make their app available for the Chromecast with Google TV.

I'm a UK user myself and I have found that the freeview app is just a hub for other service providers, I found it easier to just download ITV, BBC iPlayer and others UK TV service providers individual apps. The Channel 4 (4OD) app isn't available for the Chromecast with Google TV device so I cast content that I want to watch from my mobile device.

Thank you for your reply. The problem I am trying to solve is to be able to watch live TV via an EPG, as opposed to having to go to each app separately to see what is on. Freeview Play offers this, but if you know of any other way of achieving live TV via an EPG on Google TV I would be very grateful.

mrraphael, we don't have an app to recommend that has an EPG, but we'll take this as feedback as we are always looking for ways to add more partner apps in the future. You may also send feedback about this using the Google Home app. Here's how.

Hi Alex, thanks for responding. I have still not figured out my problem. I am trying to be able to watch live terrestrial television channels in the UK, where I am able to access these channels via an EPG (with or without an external aerial). The Freeview Play app is exactly this, however it is not available on the Chromecast.
