so I don't know if it is really an issue why does my phone screen show up on my TV when I'm casting small it doesn't come to size of the TV it's a strip down the middle

If you are casting your whole screen then it will appear as the same ascept ratio as your phone, and appear like you described. Many apps will cast whole screen, such as YouTube, Netflix, and more, if you cast from the app itself, and not screen cast.
