TV must be on to keep casting with Chromcast?

I'm using Chromcast with an HDMI audio extractor:

JTD18G-H5CH2 from J-Tech Digital

Some times when I cast from youtube, there is no video, just a static image and don't need to have the TV on

But when I turn the TV off, the sound to my audio equipment stops as well

Does the TV have to be on for the Chromecast to continue casting?

Thanks for reaching out. Yes, the TV must always be turned on for you to continuously cast content to your Chromecast device.

Hi all

Thank you for the replies

Chromecast works like that if you use it with the Chrome browser on a PC, but I discovered that after turning TV off and the casting stops, you can use the Google Home App to play and pause without the TV

This fixes my problem, so the case can be closed
