Chromecast with personal hotspot on iPhone 13/iOS 16

Hi,

I upgraded to an iPhone 13 and ever since I cannot connect my Chromecast with google TV to my iPhone’s hotspot. I noticed this once I had updated to iOS 16. When I go to network and internet, my iphone’s hotspot doesn’t appear even though it works with other devices (laptops etc.).

I never had issues connecting my chromecast to my iPhone XR. I just tried it again with my iPhone XR and it still worked great. I don’t know if this is an iOS issue or an issue with newer iPhones. Is there anyway to go about it? as I like to take my Chromecast on the road and all I have is access to my mobile data…

Hey there Laerome,

I'm sorry to hear that your iPhone's hotspot and the Chromecast are having issues! I'd be happy to help out where I can here, since I know this can be tricky to troubleshoot on your own. First, I would set the hotspot to use a 5GHz network band, since the Chromecast with Google TV devices work best with that band. Then, set the security to WPA2 / PSK for the hotspot. Afterwards, disable Bluetooth on your iPhone, and see if that helps with your connection.

Hi there,

I believe a recent update has resolved the issue. My iPhone 13’s personal hotspot now works when I press “maximise compatibility” which I believe is 2.4 GHz. Hence, so I don’t think it works with 5 GHz but at least it works for one mode.
