Chromecast with Google TV remote control - TCL TV

Chromecast with Google TV remote control doesn't work with a TCL TV, I had restored the TV, the Google, remapped the buttons and nothing happen, the IR signal only works very close to the TV IR sensor, less than 40 cms. Can someone help please?

Replace the remote control batteries.

Even if the Chromecast device report a good battery level, in fact, the batteries are too weak to send an optimum infrared signal.

BTW, the control IR works perfect with a Samsung TV and with a Pioneer AV

Then, it looks that the IR receiver on TLC TV is the problem.

No it's not the problem deu several reasons, 1. the orginal one works perfect without paring BT 2. I have an universal control and also works, 3. I owns 2 TCL's and it is happening in bought, include I bring the control to the TCL show room shop and doesn't work with anyone, thanks anyway

I read in other forums that this failures start after last control firmware updated few months ago

The Chromecast with Google TV remote has to pair Bluetooth in order to work in the first place.

I also use the Google Chromecast with Google TV and it is working flawlessly with its software up to date.

With a TCL tv? Because I own a Samsung tv also andt it works flawlessly like you said, the issue is with the TCL TV's only

I also have this issue on my tcl tv. I even purchased a IR repeater to see if that worked but no. My guess is the codes the remote are sending out via IR are slightly off but when your close enough to the TV they happen to work.

Work around was to enable T-link in the settings of the TV. This allows the Chromecast to control the TV volume using CEC over the hdmi cable.

One irritating thing is that these TCL TV's don't support power off via CEC, can turn the TV on via chromecast remote but then have to turn the TV off via The TV remote.

I Probably should have just bought a better TV haha.

Also you need to enable CEC in chromecast remote settings to control the volume too.

The same in my both tcl tv, can not be turned off through cec only turned on and volume works

Same here with my TCL, no volume or power control through the chromecast remote in IR and HDMI CEC. I guess the problem is on tcl

So we have to wait on a firmware update from TCL to fix this problem while it’s not clear if they’re working on it. In terms of the IR, I have to put the remote very close to the tv to control the volume. I have a Fire Stick which works perfectly with my tv in both CEC and IR control

I have tried Chromecast on an older TCL tv 2015 or 2016 model and unfortunately, cec doesn’t work either
