I had a Xiaomi Mi Stick that I replaced with a Chromecast with Google TV mainly because of the infrared feature of the remote. Unfortunately, even if I try every combination of Sharp TV, soundbar and AV receivers, the remote ir won't work with my TV. It's a fairly recent TV (from 2017) but its CEC support is limited (changing volume via CEC is not supported), I'd like the google TV remote to be updated supporting more TVs, or at least to be able to do a sort of universal ir search (like in many universal remotes, where you can press a button until it works).

You can request a feature request by sending feedback within the Google Home app.
My guess is that this feature would be something that is not high on the list as the use cases for it are mostly for older TVs. 🙄

well, 2017 is not that old and newer tv usually already have some kind of smart feature built in. I think that this device's targets are HDMI-compatible non-smart TVs, and it should target most, if not all, of them. The ir feature is meant for them after all, if "older" TVs were not the target, the ir feature would not have been there, like other remotes (mi stick, fire tv etc.) that rely solely on CEC

The release date of the TV where I live is 2016 but then again it should be able to work with the IR. 🙂

I read about some issues with TCL devices as well. Did you share your feedback within the Google Home app?

This should give them information about the issues with the Sharp devices.

i tried opening a feedback using google home app, but it seems that feedback through there are related to the app and not the device, I think I have to use the Google TV itself to send a proper feedback for it but I have to use the bluetooth remote to type words and it's not the most comfortable thing to do... I'll try to do it though

that link is for Google TV, which is just the software that can be used in many devices. However, I managed to send a feedback for the Chromecast from Google TV via the Google Home app (by selecting the Chromecast and tapping on the 3 dots. If you tap the settings icon first you can only send feedback for other unrelated things, I don't know why).

I hope this issue will be fixed, but I don't have much hope on it. It wouldn't be the first time that an apparently great product from Google isn't well supported after the release
