Can't cast phone screen

Hi I can't cast from my phone screen. Only reason I bought chromecast was coz I want to watch BBC maestro course on my TV.

Instructions fell at 1st hurdle as there is no "Google play services" listed in my apps to turn on microphone permissions. Is this info now out of date?

Oh hang on found the Google play services app - microphone permission is "on when using app".

No battery saver is on as I've read this can cause problems.

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. Please try the steps below:

Reinstall the Google Home app.
Make sure there's no pending OS update on your phone.
Allow Google Cast to use your network information. For Android 12 users: Go to Settings > Use network information > Continue.
Reboot your Chromecast and mobile device.
Use a different mobile phone and test.
Reset your Chromecast.
