CHROMECAST WITH GOOGLE TV

Maybe it's me, but I just bought a Chromecast with Google TV and I am trying to connect it to my TV. First problem is that the USD cable is way too short to even reach the power socket. Second problem is the actual power adapter. It is not like a regular UK plug. The single pin is too close the the two pins, so there is no way to plug it in to a power socket. Am I missing something?

Use a power supply adapter compatible with the UK plug standard able to deliver 5V DC at 1.5 A to power the Chromecast device properly. Chromecast with Google TV HD input port is USB type C.

Thanks for your answer. What I do not understand is why Google ship this item with in the UK with a non standard UK. Neither do they make this CLEAR when you are looking to buy this product. I have another Chromecast I bought from Argos a couple of years ago, which works fine. Very disappointed with Google and I will be telling them so.

Be sure to purchase Google Chromecast products only from Google official authorized dealers, otherwise you are exposing yourself to the risk of buying fake Google products.

I purchased the Chromecast with Google Tv directly from The Google Store. That is why I am surprised the plug is wrong. I wouldn't have any qualms buying stuff from Argos though

If you consider the product doesn't meet the UK safety standards, send it back and notify Google about the power adaptor issue. It is possible that something happened with their quality check on that particular batch of products.

If the product power supply adapter says it's a type G and still doesn't fit the power outlet, then something is wrong with production standards.

Yeah, that puzzled me at first. The plastic earth pin slide out horizontally to the right distance to plug in.

I thought the white single pin looked like it should move and did give it a try, but was afraid to pull too hard in case I broke it. I've now plugged it in using an Apple USB plug, however I am unable to connect to it using Google Home. Technology is awesome - when it works!

Thanks to @djtetei and @Trekdigit for their kind assistance.

To anyone else who has this problem, here is the solution. Hold the "squashed looking" 3-pin plug facing you, with the white single pin at the top and the other two pins at the bottom. Grip the white pin and lift it upwards. This will lengthen the space between the top and bottom pins, so the plug can be used in a U.K. socket. Pity Google didn't bother to include these instructions with the product.
