Make sure you have new batteries, and that you have all your firware updates. Even for the remote. Settings>Remotes & Accessories>Chromecast Remote

Have you had any luck? I’m in the same boat but mine has been an off and on issue the last few months. Some days I can just repair it and it is fine for days and others for minutes if at all. I’m going through all the suggested actions now and the only thing that work was resetting my google tv (chrome cast) itself. After going through that whole process my remote worked for maybe 2 hours. Now I’m stuck with a remote that doesn’t work:(

Hey there GoombaGroomes,

I'm sorry to hear that your remote is acting up; I can imagine this has been quite the headache for you. Go ahead and give these steps a try:

Check for pending remote software updates. Go to Settings Remotes and Accessories Remote update Continue. The remote might briefly disconnect during the software update.
Forget the Chromecast Voice Remote. Go to Settings Remotes and Accessories Chromecast Remote Forget.
Pair the remote. Go to Settings Remotes and Accessories Pair remote or accessory, then follow the instructions on the TV.
Note: If applicable, the customer can also press the button on the Chromecast device for one second to start to pair.
Remove, then replace the batteries in the Chromecast Voice Remote.
If the steps above don't work, perform a factory reset.
