Android 12 upgrade broke BBC iPlayer and ITV X

Since the Android 12 upgrade both my CCWGTV devices seem to glitch with a black flashing screen when trying to play the BBC iPlayer app. I've tried multiple TV's and monitors with different settings always with the same problem.

Why can my Amazon Firestick or Raspberry Pi running Kodi manage to run the BBC iPlayer app smoothly without problems, but not the Google Chromecast with TV?

Over the last few years I've invested in Google home.

Without the Channel 4 On demand app available, a problem with ITV X adverts blacking the screen and glitches with the BBC iPlayer app this Google device hasn't really got any UK TV support and shouldn't be sold as "with TV" in the UK.

If anyone has a solution to fix these problems please let me know, I haven't put these Google devices for sale on eBay yet as I do really love the CCWGTV user interface.

"Google With TV" which is tv.youtube.com is only avaible in the USA. I feel I've been miss advertised and sold these devices which can't seem to run main UK TV streaming services.

Google failed to remove the "with TV" off this product marketing for the UK, as it hasn't any UK TV support.

Also have this issue and getting very frustrated, BBC Iplayer and ITVX both periodically flashing black even when casting. And the lack of All4 app very annoying also

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Chromecast with Google TV (4K). Please unplug the device and plug it back in on a different HDMI port on your TV. Reinstalling the affected apps might also help.

If the issue persists, perform a factory reset on your Chromecast with Google TV (4K).

I have tried all the steps outlined by Jennifer in her reply and unfortunately none of them have resolved the issue. I am unable to watch anything on bbc iplayer without the image flashing black periodically. This ruined the world cup for me and is now ruining Happy Valley!

I'm really sorry to hear that! Do you know if this issue is occurring in any other app? If not, I'd recommend reaching out to either company's support to see if they are aware of any issues on their end.

Hoping this can get resolved soon. I presume ultimately its a ln issue with bbc than google. When updates cause issues like this should be able to simply revert back to the previous version, when it worked

Only response I have had from Iplayer is a suggestion that I raise this issue with google! I have linked this thread in reply along with more details they requested regarding software versions and TV model etc.

One suggestion that did work was lowering the resolution in iplayer to standard definition. This stops the flashing for me but as I said in my reply to Iplayer I didn't buy a 4k tv to watch content in standard definition!

I also have the same issue with iPlayer which started recently. Black flashes. Very very annoying as when you watch something your more waiting for the next flash than the content.

Unwatchable really.

I had this issue.

Today I removed iPlayer and reinstalled it and the problem with the flashing is fixed.

Hi Jeran, I'm having problems with iPlayer on my ccwgtv - there seems to be a connection issue that I can't resolve. I am also unable to cast from my device as it skips and pauses and is unwatchable. Any suggestions? I have also reached out to BBC about it but not heard back yet.

Did you already try the troubleshooting steps in this thread? If not, go ahead and uninstall and reinstall the iPlayer app. I would also double-check for any updates to the Chromecast with Google TV as well.
