Chromecast HD Snow volume control in app

On my previous chromecast I had the option to control the volume via the app (see screenshot) however on the new device I can only control the TV volume using the chromecast remote.

I want to be able to control both, is this possible? I feel like I've tried changing all of the settings and keep getting the same messages 'Home does not support volume change' and 'to adjust settings update chromecast in remote settings'

I want to be able to have the volume on 4 on the TV and 86% on the app for example as its louder than volume 3 on my TV but not loud enough to set off my tinnitus like 4 at 100%

I hope they haven't completely removed this feature, that would be incredibly disappointing

Thanks for reaching out. To verify, when you set up your Chromecast Voice Remote, what option did you choose, is it CEC, IR, or Chromecast volume? If it is set up via CEC or IR, could you please try to choose the option Chromecast Volume and check if you'll be able to control it using the Voice Remote and the Google Home app?
