Chromecast in Austria

Chromecast will not stream bbc iPlayer in Austria. I have vpn switched on. Boots out the programme after hitting play button. TV says waiting to cast, iPad/phone say casting, then it goes back to the start. Anyone able to help. I know I can’t livestream or stream downloaded programmes but should be able to stream previous programmes

Good question, let me help you. There is a possibility that the VPN is what’s causing this, You can disable it then connect to the same network as your Chromecast is connected to then try casting again.

Unfortunately disconnecting the vpn prevents iPlayer from working. So I still am unable to make it work

Hi Audre,

Thanks for the response. Which Chromecast device do you own? How far is the Chromecast from the router? How far are you from the TV when you try to cast? Is the internet connection stable? Were you able to cast content before without issues?

You can do a sequential reboot. First, unplug your Chromecast for 30 seconds, then do the same thing to your Wi-Fi router to refresh both devices and your Wi-Fi signal.

I’ve only recently bought it. I think it’s a 4. It works with YouTube. I think the issue is the vpn that is necessary to get the iPlayer to work that is incompatible with the Chromecast
