I just opened my new chromecast and the remote doesn’t work. It wouldn’t turn on at all with the batteries provided. When I placed with different batteries it shows a solid orange line

Are you able to factory reset the Chromecast Voice Remote?
What is the firmware version of your Chromecast?
What kind of batteries are you using?
What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?
