Completely disable chrome controls for cast

I don't know when this "feature" was implemented, but cast controls on Chrome have started showing up for all apps on the Chromecast with Google TV on any Chrome instance on the local network.

I live in a shared flat and thus there are multiple people on the same network. It has become really frustrating trying to use the Chromecast with Google TV because these "chrome controls" have the ability to see what is being played, pause, play, skip etc. and even completely stop casting which closes the media and out of the app that was playing.

It has happened on multiple occasions where someone has been watching something it has popped up in the corner of someone elses completely unreleated Chrome window (different device, different room) and they have accidentally paused/dismissed the media trying to close the controls.

I have the "Let others control your cast media" set to "Never" on both the Google Home app and on the Chromecast itself, yet these controls still show up with no regard to the settings that have been set.

I would love to know how to disable these controls globally because they are down right annoying and seem relatively pointless in general because 99% of the time they are seen isn't even by the person casting/watching the media

Thanks for reaching out. The cast media control notification is only available on Android devices and we can either configure this on the Google Home app, Android phone settings, and Chromecast with Google TV settings. If they're using a Chrome browser on their computer or laptop, we don't have an option to turn this off as this feature is dependent on which device you're using. They can try to configure this on their device's settings.

My question is why? Why is it not possible to disable these external controls?

If you have any internal contact to anyone working at Google or on the Chromecast team it should be relayed to them to have an option to disable it completely from the Chromecast device. It is absurd for me to control what my flatmates use as their browser or the options they configure it with. That said, the suggestion to disable this from their Chrome browser is not possible in this case as it is running on a work issued laptop that they do not have control over.

This is what I've come to expect from Google, everything being half-baked, non-working and just overall painful to use. As a giant multi-billion dollar software company, they sure don't act like it.

If there is no other option than to change the chrome://flags I guess there isn't much that can be done at this time, I hope someone who works on the Chromecast software will read this and fix this, but we all know that isn't happening.
