Chromecast remote white light stays on, first time use

Chromecast remote white light stays on. This the first time use, so I can't pair with the chromecast and now I'm unable to use it. I tried to reset the remote by removing the batteries and hold the home button when I put them back. I did a reset of the chromecast with the small button on it. And tried to pair the remote by clicking the small button just once... The light just stays solid white. I assume it can't be a firmware update because it's not connected to the internet and it feels the voice button isn't stuck. What else can I do? Return to sender?

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us.

What's the model of your Chromecast with Google TV, is it 4K or HD? Please try to replace the batteries with new 1.5 V AAA batteries and test. If the issue persists, you can contact the store where you purchased it and ask for a replacement.
