Chromecast keeps dropping 5Ghz wifi. 2.4Ghz works fine

Hello

I just purchased a Chromecast with Google TV and noticed that that it keeps dropping my 5Ghz wifi. all my other devices connected to 5Ghz are fine. I am using my Chromecast on the 2.4Ghz right now. just wondering if this is a known issue. I have been reading forums and someone recommended changing the channel width on my 5Ghz wifi.

I already updated my Chromecast to the latest and greatest.

5ghz has a much shorter range than 2.4 GHz so it's possible the signal is too weak to stay stable. It's also possible that your router is doing this, can you go into your router settings and see if there is an option for band steering to be disabled?

Thanks. i don't see an option for band steering. I do have my 5ghz set for 802.1 n and 802.1 ac

I have channel width set to Auto.

All my other 5ghz devices are fine. My wireless router isn't too far from the Chromecast

I just changed the channel width from Auto to 40Mhz. I'm going to try it out and see if that works.

yeah; chromecast hasn't dropped from my 5Ghz network since I changed the channel width from "auto" to "40Mhz". I haven't tested going back to auto yet.

I still need to do more testing, but so far my chromecast with google TV hasn't disconnected from my 5Ghz network since changing the channel width. you can close it if you want.
