Stereo casts to Google TV have severe phase problem

When I cast from my android phone to the Google Chromecast with Google TV I get awful stereo with sections of the mix missing altogether. It sounds to me like a one channel phase inversion.

Yet when I do the same to my Sony Android TV on the same system the stereo is just fine.

What is going on?

Thanks for reaching out, I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should. A few questions: what Chromecast device are we working on? When did it begin? Also, what steps have you tried so far? Give the steps below a try and let me know how it goes:

Plug in your Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV.
Reboot your TV and Wi-Fi router.
Reset your Chromecast device
