YouTube Kids unavailable in kid profile

I have two seperate Chromecast devices: the 4K version and the HD version. I bought them together at Best Buy yesterday.

They are both set up the same, on two different TVs in two different rooms.

When signed into my kid's profile, we can see and use YouTube kids on the HD device, but it's not an available option on the 4K device from the kid profile. It is only visible in the adult profile on the 4K device.

Troubleshooting steps taken:

- Rebooting the 4K device

- Updating the 4K device

- Removing child profile and re-adding it

- Uninstalling and re-installing YouTube Kids

Meanwhile YouTube kids is still not an available app in the kid profile in the 4K device. It's only available in the kid profile in the HD device.

How can I fix the 4K device so my kid can use YouTube Kids on the 4K device?

I've been having this issue too, even weirder if I do a full factory reset it will let me add YouTube kids to the kids profile but it will vanish after hours/sometimes days. Incredibly frustrating, been happening for weeks now

@FinePancakes, try to factory reset your Chromecast with Google TV (4K).

@morbo85, have you tried similar steps provided in this thread before doing a factory reset?

I’ve done all these steps including multiple account re-creations for the child and it keeps happening.

what are next steps?

Yeah I've tried all the steps multiple times. It's incredibly frustrating and happening on both of my 4k Google tvs

This is happening to me. I set up kids profiles on my Chromecast with Google TV. I had access YouTube kids, and my daughter was watching on her Google profile set up for her, then it just closed out and disappeared, now I can only access in my own profile!

Same issue here as of yesterday, on a brand new HD version. YT kids was there, I added another app, the story one, Vooks, then the YT kids app has vanished and can’t add it again! Help please!

Thanks, I did the factory reset and YouTube Kids is still not visible from the child profile. It's only visible from the adult profile.

Go to Settings.
Select Help and Feedback.
In the feedback field, write a brief description of the issue.
Include the phrase “CCT3 Can't install Youtube Kids”.
Select Send.

Exact same issue with my 4k Chromecast. Created a kids profile a few days ago and the YouTube kids app has disappeared.

Now my Chromecasts have switched. The 4K is now showing YouTube Kids as an option in the Kid's profile screen, but the HD version is not showing YouTube Kids as an option. Definitely something software-related since none of the hardware has been changed.
