My "Chromecast" has found my network but can´t get connected to it ! (Hotel Wi-Fi Access Point)

Hi community folks!!

I have got a 2nd GEN chromecast (CC) device plugged on a LG TV but CC device can´t get connected to my wi-fi network. Follow the message bellow from the TV screen (just like photo attached):

"Check internet connection : Try restarting your wi-fi router or choose a different wi-fi network in the Google Home app"

There goes some of my network information:Photo from my TV

Profile : Hotel (Public and Open);

Wi-Fi transmiter : RUCKUS wireless Access Point Dual Band (2.4 / 5 GHz) - I am not able to restart it);

Cast Transmiter : Smart phone Moto G7 plus / Andriod 10.

I will really apprecciate someone who may help my CC works properly.

You hotel probably requires you to connect to their network and then go to a webpage to sign-in or accept their terms-of-service. As you've discovered, Chromecast doesn't support 2-step (also called "captive portal") logins like that.

If you do a google search for "use Chromecast in hotels" you'll find how people have worked around this using phone hotspots and (my preference) travel routers.

Keep in mind that neither solution is officially supported and most shared networks like that are grossly overloaded so streaming may not be a smooth experience.

Also, you don't really WANT to get connected to a big shared network like that. If you did, your Chromecast would be visible to everyone else on the network and they could cast to it at any time. Using a travel router makes a private network of your own and then nobody else will be able to see your Chromecast or cast to it.

I will Google search for your recommendations . Regarding to "using a travel router" to create my own private network, how does this work?

a. can I connect the "travel router" to the Hotel network and then connect my devices in private to my "travel router"?

b. What travel router maker Do you recommend?

A) that is exactly how it works. You connect your router to the hotel. The router makes it's own private network (with a new name) and you connect all your devices to that private network. Another benefit is that the hotel sees that as ONE device. I'm going on a cruise where the limit us to one device so this will let me attach multiple devices at once.

B) There are a LOT of great ones. If you do a Google search you will find a lot of pages rating and reviewing them. Personally, I now use a TP-Link AC750 Wireless Portable Nano Travel Router(TL-WR902AC). I have found it to be a great combination of size and features (I love that it can also connect to WIRED networks), it's less than $40, and I have had great luck with TP-Link products in the past.
