New 4K Chromecast - sound issues

Hi all, I’m new here. I’ve just bought the google chromecast with google tv 4K model. The picture works fine but have issues with sound. I have the Chromecast plugged into the tv and an optical cable running from tv to a Kenwood amp. Sound worked fine yesterday but not today. I’ve switched to another device and the amp works fine. I switched back to the chromecast and it worked for a few minutes and has stopped again. Any advice would be appreciated.

Optical audio is finicky sometimes, does your amp have a power saver mode? I know sometimes they can power off if it can't detect a signal, I know my Vizio does this, quote annoying !

Thanks for your reply. It’s a fairly old amp. Interesting is seems to be working now and I’ve done nothing.
