Chromecast audio not activating

I just purchased an older chromecast audio to connect to my external speakers. I am trying to set it up in Home but it told me I have to activate it on the Device Utility app. I have tried now to activate it and it does not work. It tells me that could not connect to the chromecast audio. I do not know what to try next? Can anyone recommend to try something else?

Try these steps:

Download the Device Utility app from the Google Play Store.
Open the Device Utility app, and then turn Wi-Fi OFF in your phone's settings as instructed.
Once the app finds your device, tap on its name.
Go back to your phone's Wi-Fi settings and turn Wi-Fi back ON.
Re-open the Device Utility app and tell it to connect to your device.
It should now connect successfully and you can follow the setup steps.

Unfortunately it still does not work. I've reset, and activated thru the Device Utility app. I can see the device in Home app - but it will not cast music to the speakers?

So the device is now successfully showing up in your Google Home app and it's connected to Wifi?

What app are you trying to cast music from? What happens when you try to cast?
