Remote dead. New batteries, no activity light.

Using Chromecast two years. I got a solid activity light below the power button on my remote and the remote stopped working. I put in new batteries and do not get any new activity light at all when installing new batteries. No button does anything.

I can link my phone to the dongle and use it as a remote.

How do I reactivate my remote?

One of the things you try is factory reset your remote.
