Google home turns off Chromecast but not TV

I have had the Chromecast since September and I love it. The only complaint is that I when I use the Google home app to turn it off, only the Chromecast turns off but the TV stays on.

If I use the chromecast control it turns off both the chrome cast and TV.

If it matters I have an Insignia TV, don't know what year but it's an old one. It's a smart TV but I believe it was one of the first ones.

Depending on the TV it may have settings that need to be enabled (or may not exist). I assume you are already on a HDMI CEC since using the chromecast it turns off the TV.. does your tv have a "Power off on no input" or similar options?

It does. Sometimes I turn off the Chromecast with the Google home app and just wait for the TV to turn off by itself.
