Chromecast casting audio to two devices

When you're trying to cast and you go to source to click screen, is there a way to cast the audio to your headphones and to the screen you're casting to at the same time. For example a t.v. and headphones?

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. If you’re using a Chromecast with Google TV, you can pair it with Bluetooth audio devices (earpods, headsets, speakers, etc.). Not all devices may work, but you can always use the trial-and-error approach. Let us know if you still have questions.

So if I did pair my Chromecast with Google TV to my Airpods how would I go about playing audio through both of them? Is that possible?

Hello Alex18x19,

Thanks for the reply. I’m assuming that you’re using a Chromecast with Google TV since the older version of Chromecast has no means of pairing with Bluetooth audio devices and won’t be able to split the video and sound. Using the Chromecast Voice remote, you just navigate to Settings > Remotes and Accessories > Pair a remote or accessory. Once paired, you'll be able to play your apps (Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Spotify, etc.) and see the video on the TV screen while the sound goes to the paired audio device (a Bluetooth speaker, headset, earbuds, etc.). Again, not all devices can be paired. It all boils down to compatibility since Chromecast with Google TV uses Bluetooth 4.2, as you can see here: Chromecast specifications.

Right, you're correct. I am using a Chromecast with Google TV. I was successful in pairing headphones to the Chromecast but my question is, is it possible to play it through the TV and the headphones at the exact same time.

Thanks for confirming. Regarding your other request, it seems that you want the sound to play not just on your headphones but also on the TV’s speaker at the same time. Unfortunately, it can’t be done that way. You may need to choose where you want the sound to go.

Some users connect the Chromecast with Google TV to an AV receiver. That way, the receiver can dissect the output by splitting the video and audio. Most receivers have multiple output ports, giving them the capability to connect multiple video outputs for simultaneous display and multiple audio outputs for multiple speakers or a home theater setup.
