Are they all working again now? As I have had my Chromecast audio brick in the exact same manner on Sunday too!!! When I read your initial post I wondered if they'd all been shut off by Google !

Chromecast Audio Bricked?

I came home from vacation to find all 4 of my Chromecast Audio devices disconnected from the network. Each is blinking amber which should be indicating a factory update is in progress. The blinking is ongoing for over a day now. I've attempted a factory reset but the only response I received is the blinking amber light.

Since all 4 are exhibiting the same behavior at the same time I can only assume that an update was pushed that Bricked the devices.

Any assistance / advice?

Blinking orange usually means an update is in progress, but that certainly shouldn't take over a day. Try these steps:

Reboot your router. Unplug your router from the power source then wait about one minute and plug it back in.

Reboot any other Wifi points, repeaters or extenders you may have.

Once your router (and other Wifi points if any) are back online, reboot Chromecast Audio. Unplug your Chromecast Audio from the power source then wait about one minute and plug it back in.

If it the issue persists, factory reset the device and retry setup.

Thank you for the reply. Rebooting the router (no repeaters) makes no difference. I've tried the 1 minute unplug / re-plug. It immediately return to blinking amber. I've attempted factory reset on the device following Google's instructions, but the device continues to flash amber and never resets. Anything else I can try?

You could try temporarily connecting them to a Wi-Fi hotspot to see if its an issue with the Wifi network. Note you will need 2 devices to set this up.

Turn on the Wifi hotspot feature on a phone or tablet. If you're not sure how to do this, refer to the manufacturer's support website.

Connect a second phone or tablet to that Wifi hotspot.

You can then use that second phone or tablet to setup your device and connect it to the Wifi hotspot on the first phone or tablet.

RESOLVED! Long story short, since I was running 4 Chromecast audio devices, I used a multi-port USB power supply. Apparently this was starting to fail and the lack of current (?) was causing the Chromecast devices to blink. Using the OEM USB power supply works.

They are all working 100%. It was a power supply issue. Simply bought a high quality multi port USB power supply and everything went back to normal.
