Cant't chrome cast from browser on ethernet-connected PC

I would like to Chromecast a tab from Chrome to a TV with built-in Chromecast, but I get a message saying No devices found. The PC is connected to the same local network via ethernet as the TV with built-in Chromecast.

Chrome version: Version 118.0.5993.118 (Official Build) (64-bit)

What would you recommend to address this issue?

I think I am having the same problem. My laptop is not showing any devices. I think I read somewhere that it is not possible to cast from a PC without doing something (but I'm not sure what). Apparently, casting from a mobile phone or laptop is easy! If you get any replies with a solution, please let me know.

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Failure in casting from the Chrome browser can be caused by a lot of factors. For now, let’s prove the functionality of the Chromecast device and break down each possibility to isolate the issue. Try these:

Within the same network, try to cast using another device (smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc.).
Ensure that each device involved has the latest software and/or firmware.
Try to change the network (wired or wireless) or bandwidth (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) for the devices that can't be cast.
Try to refresh the communication with all the involved devices by performing a sequential reboot.

Let us know how it goes.

Same deal for me. Multiple Windows 11 Pro (23H2) machine cannot find any devices to cast to, with either Chrome or third-party apps. Android is fine. MacOS 14.1.1 is fine. So it's not a network issue for me, nor is it just a Chrome settings issue

Checked switching one of the desktops that HAS onboard wifi to it to see if it makes a difference and it ABSOLUTELY DOES. Cast devices cannot be seen from wired network, even though the access point is on the same network (x.x.x.n) and everything else works.

Thanks for posting here. What Chromecast device are you using? Technically, only the Chromecast Ultra and Chromecast with Google TV versions have the feature to utilize Ethernet connectivity. But all Chromecast devices are designed to work with Wi-Fi. Based on your description, casting from devices connected via Wi-Fi is done with no problems. Even the computer that was disconnected from the wired connection and used the Wi-Fi managed to cast successfully. It’s clear that the Chromecast devices are working as intended.
