Chromecast to a non-wifi tv

I have an old Samsung TV with an HDMI port but cannot be connected to a Wi-Fi connection. Can I use Chromecast on it? Will 4k work be compatible with it? or HD? Suggestions needed.

You'd have to share more details about the TV to be able to tell you if your TV is FHD or 4K, but I kinda doubt that a non-smart TV would be 4K anyway.

Of course the Chromecast will work fine with this TV - personally I would recommend the Chromecast with Google TV - it makes your TV just as smart as a modern Smart TV, as long as it's turned on.

Yes. Thatis what Chromecast is designed for to utilize a phone or laptop to cast content to a non-smart TV. You will need to have the Chromecast and the device you're casting from on the same Wi-Fi network and have the Google Home app downloaded to your phone/laptop to mirror your screen for content that does not have its own casting features. Case in point I have a non-smart Toshiba TV with both a Fire Stick and Chromecast dongle attached to its HDMI ports and I use my Samsung phone to cast movies and other content to the Chromecast.

@mhafsah, thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Chromecast devices would work even on a non-smart TV as long as they supported HDMI connections. The resolution of the display would now depend on the capacity of the actual TV. If your TV's maximum output is 1080p (HD), you can only expect that even if you connect a 4K-capable Chromecast device.

I suggest you use a Chromecast with Google TV (4K or HD). This still has the original casting features plus more, and it comes with its own remote.
