Guest Mode

I have no wifi network available but I’ve read about guest mode. Can I setup a chrome cast with guest mode to stream content from my iPhone using my cellular data with no issue? Is the stream high quality? Has anyone tried this?

Maybe you don't have a WiFi router, but do you have wired internet?

Alternatively you can use a mobile WiFi router.

Bottom line is you need an internet connection to setup Chromecast and enable guest mode.

Can I use my phones mobile hotspot to connect the chrome cast initially to enable guest mode and then disconnect hotpot to connect using guest mode and stream to the chrome cast using my cellular data? I’m trying to basically screencast content from my iPhone to the device with no wifi or mobile hotspot usage. Is this possible?

Heya lilspud,

I would recommend you check out this article on types of Wi-Fi networks that aren't recommended. While not outright incompatible, Mobile Hotspots don't tend to work great with Chromecast, however, it seems to vary from device to device. Some users don't have any issues at all, while others cannot get it to work at all. You're more than welcome to see if it works for you, but be aware it's not technically supported by Google, and it may take a decent amount of data!
