Google TV Drops to Home Menu in Middle of Programs

When we watch a Google TV program (Tubi, etc.) the Chromecast spontaneously switches to the home menu in the middle of the program. Please advise on what we can do to stop this behavior.

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. Could you tell us what other apps are affected aside from Tubi? Does it also affect renowned apps like YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, etc.? Three possibilities that I can think of are:

The trigger of the home button on the remote.
The app(s) crashes and goes back to the home screen.
Something is corrupted that causes the playback to stop and go back to the home screen.

If you haven’t tried any steps yet, I suggest you reboot the Chromecast device itself by unplugging it from the power and removing the batteries from the remote for a minute. If the issue is isolated to 1–3 apps, you can clear the cache and data or reinstall the app itself. If it still persists, try to do a full clean-up by performing a factory reset on the main Chromecast device and setting it up from scratch.
